Noble Rose Christine W. Hayes Grand Chapter

 

 

Sis. Christine W. Hayes joined International Free and Accepted Modern Masons, Inc. and Order of the Eastern Star in April 1961 out of Miami, FL. In 1957, Sis. Hayes was a member of United Masons which she joined while living in St. Petersburg, FL. Upon moving to Miami, she became a member of Melzie Coleman Chapter #5. Sis. Gussie Nelson was the Worthy Matron and Sis. Madeline Williams was the Grand Matron at that time.

Sis. Hayes moved back to St. Petersburg in 1966 and became a member of Electa Chapter #106 in 1974. While there, she served as the Financial Secretary for two years until she was elected Worthy Matron in December 1976. To date, Sis. Hayes continues to serve as Worthy Matron of that chapter.

Sis. Hayes served as the Grand Recording Secretary under Sis. Pinkie McDonald, Grand Matron. She also served as the Associate District Grand Matron for Dist. #26 in St. Petersburg working with Sis. Antoinette Davis, District Matron for five years. When Sis. Fannie Simmons became Grand Matron, she kept Sis. Hayes in the position of Grand Recording Secretary for two years before appointing her as the Associate Grand Matron of the state. She served in this capacity for four years. During that time, Sis. Hayes set up the first Grand Associate Matrons Council in Florida.

In 1983, Sis. Hayes was elected and became the Grand Matron of Florida under Sis. Parnella Tubbs, Supreme Grand Matron. On the Supreme Level; Sis. Hayes served as the Vice President of the Grand Matrons Council with Sis. Louise Williams as President for four years.

In 2001, Sis. Hayes became President of the Grand Matrons Council. Sis. Hayes was the 1st Vice President for the Rose of Seven Seals Auxiliary for three years. Sis. Hayes was appointed 1st Associate Supreme Grand Matron by Sis. Tubbs and is presently the 2nd Associate Supreme Grand Matron under appointment by Sis. Patricia Hollowell, Supreme Grand Matron. Past Supreme President and CEO of this great organization Dr. George Mathews 33° awarded Sis. Hayes “Mini Presidential Power”. Under Sis. Hayes’ leadership as Grand Matron, the District Grand Matrons Council and the Worthy Matrons Council were organized in Florida. Sis. Hayes was the organizer and founder of the Florida International Choir.

Sis. Hayes belongs to every department and auxiliary a female can belong to in this organization and is active in all of them. Sis. Hayes has set up three youth courts and has been instrumental in getting several others established. There have been 72 new chapters and 10 revised chapters under her leadership. Throughout her tenure, the sisterhood of Florida has increased and the State of Florida has maintained the status as the #1 state in growth each year consecutively. Sis. Hayes has received many accolades and awards for being the number one Grand Matron in this organization.

In March 2008 she was appointed to the Board of Directors of International Free and Accepted Modern Masons, Inc. and Order of the Eastern Star by the Past Supreme President, Dr. George Mathews 33° and continues to serve as of July 2011. Sis. Christine Hayes is the only Grand Matron that has served in this capacity going on 27 years.
